A roleplaying game can lead beyond the next session—to a review, a rules discussion, a new book, or someone else who cares about the same adventure. Russ Morrissey’s career connects several of those places through EN World, EN Publishing, the ENNIE Awards, and games of his own.
Known online as Morrus, he has worked as a publisher, system creator, producer, and community-site owner. The practical thread is a place for games, their makers, and their readers to meet. WOIN and Simply6 locate his own design work within that larger publishing life.
A Home for Games and Conversation
EN Publishing’s team page, reviewed on August 30, 2026, identified Morrus as the owner of EN World and EN Publishing. The two names connect public RPG information with the work of bringing games into print.
The publishing history has several dated accounts. In a January 2026 interview, Morrissey recalled beginning as Natural 20 Press in 1999. EN Publishing’s About page gives 2001 as its launch year. Companies House records the incorporation of EN Publishing Ltd on June 12, 2016, and Russell Ian Morrissey’s appointment as a director that day. The relationship between the earlier 1999 and 2001 milestones remains unresolved; the 2016 date concerns the present legal entity.
Behind those dates is an ongoing publishing operation. Readers meet it through articles and products; publishing also connects a project with the people and resources needed to finish it. Morrissey’s credits make that work visible.
Giving the Hobby an Occasion to Celebrate
The official ENNIE Awards history dates their creation to 2001, as a ceremony hosted by EN World in partnership with Eric Noah’s site. It records Morrissey’s ownership of the awards through 2019.
Awards give a community an occasion to notice work. They place games and their makers in conversation, leaving a record people can revisit. Morrissey’s part in the ENNIEs belongs to that history of recognition and to the partnership in which the awards began.
His ownership ended in 2019. The contribution is a chapter of stewardship, with a beginning shared by EN World and Eric Noah’s site and a clear endpoint to his ownership.
Games of His Own
The WOIN Rules Reference identifies its rules as based on the WOIN game system by Russ Morrissey. EN Publishing describes WOIN as three connected toolkit games. A toolkit gives a group materials to build with, leaving room for the kind of game they want to run.
The line also carries other people’s ideas and work. In his 2026 interview, Morrissey recalled Mike Myler proposing NOW and offering to write it. EN Publishing credits Ryan Nock’s Elements of Magic as inspiration for additional magic rules. Those contributions belong alongside Morrissey’s system credit.
Simply6 supplies another direct design credit: the official product page identifies it as a game by Russ Morrissey. Together, these games show a creative role beyond company ownership. He has contributed systems and games as well as helped publish the work of others.
Helping Other Creators Reach Readers
Dungeon Delver’s Guide credits Morrissey as publisher and Paul Hughes as lead designer. Its designers are William Fischer, Will Gawned, Cassandra Macdonald, Rory Madden, Sarah Madsen, Peter N Martin, Mike Myler, Morrigan Robbins, and Brandes Stoddard. Jessica Hancock is credited as business manager.
One book carries a substantial group of credited contributors. Morrissey’s publishing role helps their work reach an audience; the design remains attached to Hughes and the named designers.
The ZEITGEIST Campaign Guide describes Morrissey’s contribution as production and facilitation, while Ryan Nock is credited with writing. Facilitation is quiet but practical: collaborative projects need people to keep their parts moving together. The credit places Morrissey in that supporting role.
These books reveal more than a list of owned organizations. Sometimes Morrissey creates the game system; sometimes he publishes a team of designers or helps a writer’s project through production. Each contributes differently to what players eventually receive.
A Continuing Place to Meet
EN World and EN Publishing are the clearest places to explore the work connected with Morrus. Their pages lead outward to games, contributors, and the conversations around them.
That outward connection frames Morrissey’s contribution to the hobby. His career brings together information, recognition, publishing, and design: WOIN and Simply6, the ENNIEs during his ownership, and collaborative books bearing his publishing or production credit.
The result gives players several ways to take part: discover a game, discuss it, recognize its makers, or sit down and play.
